High Tenacity Geotextiles
Armtec's High Tenacity Geotextiles are commonly used as integral components in reinforced soil structures such as retaining walls, oversteepened slopes and embankments constructed on weak soils. These geosynthetics provide tensile strength to the soil, thus enhancing its shear strength characteristics. This enables walls, slopes and embankments to be constructed cost-effectively and quickly. Mirafi® geosynthetics, from Armtec, that are used for soil reinforcement, have been designed to offer the optimum in performance characteristics.

Geogrids
Armtec Geogrids Geogrids are open-mesh polymer-based geosynthtics designed to enhance the performance of granular soils. By combining the tensile strength of the synthetic grid with the friction and interlock properties between the soil and the grid a composite soil-grid structure can be constructed. The chemical resistance of the grid ensures long-lasting structures with high performance.

Two types of grid are available:

Uni-Axial geogrids are used in the following applications:

  • Soil reinforcement
  • Block or segmental retaining walls
  • Steep slope reinforcement
  • Void bridging in weak soils

Bi-Axial geogrids are used in the following applications:

  • Base reinforcement & soil stabilization for roadways, parking lots, railways
  • Base reinforcements for high embankments
  • Base reinforcement for stockpiles, aggregate storage etc.
  • Slope reinforcement

Erosion Control Products
Armtec Erosion Control Products The optimum erosion control measure is well-established vegetation. In order to promote rapid establishment of newly planted or seeded vegetation, erosion control blankets and turf reinforcement mats are used. Armtec carries a comprehensive line of these products.

Sheet Piling

Armtec Sheet Piling Armtec manufactures lightweight, driveable sheet piling for use in many applications. Sheet piling is available in galvanized or black steel and is of the interlocking edge type. Standard widths of 500mm and lengths of up to ten metres are available. Individual sections are available with pulling holes if required.

Bin Wall Retaining Wall System

Armtec Bin Wall Retaining Wall System Armtec Bin Wall is a sectional gravity-type retaining wall system manufactured from rugged and durable galvanized steel components. The system consists of a series of interconnected open-bottom steel boxes, infilled with granular material, with a height and depth designed to resist overturning and sliding forces typical of a gravity wall system. All connections are bolted at site.

Standard factory components can be used to construct walls with heights up to ten metres and depths approaching four metres. Standard section width is 3 metres. Walls can be installed on side slopes, lateral slopes, on curves and with changes in elevation either below the wall or above it.

  • Sectional layout ensures maximum flexibility in configuring any kind of wall
  • Light individual sections allow installation with light equipment
  • Fully nested parts allow for economical shipment over long distances
  • Infill material is granular, generally available close to site.

Cellular Confinement System
Cellular Confinement System Cellular confinement systems are designed to be used in conjunction with granular or weaker soils in order to create an engineered-grade composite fill material. Confinement of a weaker soil within the individual cells of the mat, and within the expanded mat itself will allow these soils to exhibit the characteristics of stronger granular soils. The use of a cellular confinement system can greatly reduce the need for expensive granular materials.

  • Road base construction in weak soils
  • Railroad base construction
  • Channel protection for high-flow applications
  • Steep slope protection and stabilization
  • Retaining wall construction (gravity type)
  • Weak subgrade reinforcement

Wire Mesh Slope and Retaining Wall System
Geoweb Cellular Confinement System Reinforced steepened slopes, also termed Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) slopes, are defined as structures with face inclinations of less than 70 degrees. Steepened slopes have become increasingly popular due to the desire to increase land usage and decrease site development costs.
