The Challenge
The scale and location of the new property presented unique requirements for the agriculture drainage contractor. The drainage system was designed using 15-foot tile spacing, compared with the more typical 20- to 25-foot spacing. The tighter spacing was requested to improve drainage efficiency and crop performance for the specific soil and crop conditions. This resulted in an extensive drainage layout requiring more than 242,000 feet of Big ‘O’ HDPE tubing in multiple diameters.
The Solution
Armtec supplied a combination of Big ‘O’ HDPE Tubing sizes to meet the agriculture drainage contractors design requirements, including approximately 231,000 ft of 4-inch tile, 6,400 ft of 6-inch, 1,600 ft of 8-inch, 2,700 ft of 10-inch and 420 ft of 12-inch tubing.
The completed system demonstrates how Big ‘O’ HDPE Tubing can be configured to meet specific field drainage requirements, with multiple sizes working together to efficiently manage excess water and support improved growing conditions.
